The Story Behind
In May 2019, we met in the first maritime and blue logistics startup weekend, held in Barcelona by Techstars. Without knowing each other beforehand, we created the team and the idea of Shellock came up, after an intense and fun brainstorming session. The concept was so inspiring and enlightening, that motivated us to the point where we were working so synchronized that it felt like we had known each other since forever. We spent three days there from morning to night, shaping the concept, developing the business plan, researching for competitors and making the presentation. On the third day in a 5 minute-pitch, we presented Shellock before a jury integrated by high-rank professionals of the maritime and logistics industry and consolidated entrepreneurs. We placed second, it was huge emotion for the team, but we did not even know our lives were about to change. After the award ceremony, few managers from logistic enterprises approached to us, asking if we were going to make Shellock real. We looked at each other’s face with a smile, and said yes. Currently, there are different players supporting our venture, collaborating in our product development, like Grupo Romeu, Port of Barcelona and Startup Wharf. In January 2020 we partnered with the Universitat de Barcelona and we moved to its co-work space known as StartUb! In February, we started the Santander Incubation program “Explorer”. Currently we are developing our MVP: The reusable seal and our platform.
